NFC und iPhone

With NFC radio technology, it is possible to transmit smaller amounts of data over a short distance without cables and independently of the Internet. This means that it can basically be compared well with conventional Bluetooth technology. A built-in chip makes the feature usable, so you don’t need to install hardware or software to use NFC with iPhones. Conveniently, the feature works automatically in the background through Background Tag Reading. This will instantly notify you when you can interact with something on your NFC app.

The technology also allows you to easily set up NFC shortcuts, allowing you to quickly and reliably perform various interactions with other devices. On slightly older models (before iPhone XS and 11), you will need to download the NFC Reader app for this additional feature. However, this is available completely free of charge in the App Store.

If you plan to visit certain markets or establishments, or interact with business partners in a commercial setting, it may be wise to inquire about NFC compatibility beforehand. In general, larger cities and companies offer more opportunities for use, and NFC acceptance in Germany continues to increase. However, what are specific applications of NFC with iPhone and how can they be used commercially or privately?

NFC tips and application possibilities

For example, NFC on Apple Pay enables cashless payments. The small amount of data in the application is completely sufficient for this purpose and is also particularly secure. The radio range of a few centimeters makes it virtually impossible for hackers to access your information while using NFC with iPhone. Therefore, the technology can also be well integrated into corporate workflows.

Since the scanning of so-called NFC tags has also been possible for some time, further application possibilities arise. For example, you can get information from scans in a museum or products in a supermarket. By setting up NFC shortcuts, you have the option to get creative about it yourself.

To do this, open the pre-installed app for NFC shortcuts and select “Automation”. After tapping the plus button, you will create a personal automation. You can name the tag yourself and assign an action to it, which is in the options list. For the new action, select NFC as the trigger and scan the now created “sticker” to execute the feature. This can be used, for example, to make calls, send messages or even start HomeKit accessories. With this NFC tip, you can easily perform actions that you use regularly at home as well as in the office or even in the car.
